- MLG Design Research:
- Total LG needs to be able to take loads of 3x the empty weight of the aircraft
- 90% of the load will be handled by the MLG
- Most RC aircraft utilize a single continuous strut that is attached to the bottom of the fuselage
- Our fuselage is currently not flat at the bottom so it probably is not a good option unless we put it through the fuselage which could add excess complexity
- For manufacturing and replaceability, 2 goals of the trainer, having a separated right/left main landing gear could also be beneficial
- This was done on one of the previous AMAT planes based on the pictures (does anyone remember how it went? I think it may have been the Catfish, couldn't find any picture on the Drive)
- This also decreases the mass of the LG!
- The initial design will use this method, see Fusion model

- With NLG estimation from last week, total LG weight estimation = 0.833lbs (16% of total weight if plane is 5lbs)
- Shock Absorbers
- Many online forums and articles have a general consensus that shock absorbers for smaller RC planes like ours don’t offer much and just become another point of failure
- Unless there is an exceptional amount of bounce on landing, this would probably not be a viable option for the trainer as we want to keep it simple
- Goals for next week
- Really rough mass estimation so I can do some LG Patran practice
