1. MLG Design Research:
    1. Total LG needs to be able to take loads of 3x the empty weight of the aircraft
      1. 90% of the load will be handled by the MLG
    2. Most RC aircraft utilize a single continuous strut that is attached to the bottom of the fuselage
      1. Our fuselage is currently not flat at the bottom so it probably is not a good option unless we put it through the fuselage which could add excess complexity
    3. For manufacturing and replaceability, 2 goals of the trainer, having a separated right/left main landing gear could also be beneficial
    4. This was done on one of the previous AMAT planes based on the pictures (does anyone remember how it went? I think it may have been the Catfish, couldn't find any picture on the Drive)
      1. This also decreases the mass of the LG!
    5. The initial design will use this method, see Fusion model

  1. With NLG estimation from last week, total LG weight estimation = 0.833lbs (16% of total weight if plane is 5lbs)
  2. Shock Absorbers
    1. Many online forums and articles have a general consensus that shock absorbers for smaller RC planes like ours don’t offer much and just become another point of failure
    2. Unless there is an exceptional amount of bounce on landing, this would probably not be a viable option for the trainer as we want to keep it simple
