Github workshop

• When adding something new to main, add directly without adding branch

Cloning github repo to VS code

• To clone github repo to local VSC input command in terminal:

  • gh repo clone ucd-amat/Summer-2025
  • Or go to code → Github CLI and copy text

• Good practice, create a branch instead of uploading to main (debugging and stuff)

  • branch like “Save As”, making a copy of code

• Organization → give files descriptive names

• Multiple people cannot work on code at the same time

• Notify people when editing code

Regular Class RFP

SAE 2025 Ruleset:

SAE_AeroDesign_2025_Rules (3)-1.pdf

• Need a SAE international society membership - $40/year
• Regular class overview- maximize wingspan, maximize payload
• Design Reqs
  • Fixed wing, nonrotor, heavier than air
  • Gross takeoff weight cannot exceed 55lbs (includes payload)
  • No composites Only use wood, monocoat, etc (with some exceptions)
  • No lead
  • Takeoff limit - 100ft
  • Must turn within 400 ft
  • Landing limit - 400ft
  • Oval flight path
  • Min wingspan of 120 in (10ft) , max wingspan of 180 in (15ft)
  • Min wingtip chord of 4 in
  • components need to be disassembled into 48in components
  • No gyros, stability assists
  • Only 1 electric motor
  • Cargo bay fully enclosed in fuselage, only 1 cargo bay
  • Aero analysis on scoring equations
