Pusher vs Puller Prop Config
Pusher
Pros
- Less airframe drag, clear airflow over airframe
- No propeller wash over fuselage
Cons
- Disturbed airflow at propeller due to airframe
- Less Engine cooling
- Less ease of accessibility for repair
- Have to work in between booms for engine work
- Consider prop clearance
- Tricycle landing gear lands on rear main landing first, will need to make sure propellor doesn’t hit ground
- Payload will be loaded in the front, making aircraft very nose heavy
- Need longer fuselage to compensate
- Potential stability issue when unloaded/loaded
Puller
Pros
- Best prop efficiency, clean airflow at propellor
Cons
Conclusion: Puller tractor preferred
