design, build, test an airplane to execute “X-1 Supersonic Flight Test Program”, including launch of an “X-1 test vehicle” (autonomous glider)

Fuel Tanks
Design:
- must be commercially available beverage bottle with screw on cap
- minimum capacity of 16 oz.
- external tanks should be the same size, shape, brand, (essentially identical) for all missions
- may be filled with inert materials (water, sand, etc.) for fuel weight
tanks will be carried externally and internally:
- only one in the internal tank may be carried. design may be different from the external tanks
- external tanks are attached using pylons which must be removable (not a permanent feature of airplane design)
X-1 test vehicle
is a glider capable of autonomous flight. it will be:
- attached on the plane in Mission 2
